New Moon

The midnight premier. Four of us out of the eight got there at 9:15pm. There had been people in line since 10am. I so did not expect to see the mass amount of people there so early. Each theater room had it's own designated line - there was no switching to be had. I wore my "Team Edward" button proudly. Homemade and storebought shirts abounded, some donning hooded red capes, mimicking the Italian spectators celebrating St. Marcus day - the fictional day that vampires were supposedly rid from Volterra. Almost three hours early - it went fast.

The movie? Oh you want to hear about that:) New Moon was amazing. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G, people. It followed the book so much more closely than the first. Seeing as how New Moon was my least favorite book out of the four, I knew I would have to sit though a lot of "Team Jacob" swoons - and I was right. As luck would have it, the (mostly girls) in my theater were a large majority 'Team Jacob" fans, or so it seemed by all the screams and whistles. I am not a fan of Jacob, in fact during the book I wanted him to just disappear. So I relished the scenes with Edward, whose appearance in New Moon was naturally fairly brief.

I want to see it again, it was that good. And going at midnight is an experience all in it's own - there were a lot of interesting, er... fans there. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

The end. Ohhh the end. At the end, after the last few words spoken by Edward and Bella, my entire theater erupted in anguished screams of "NO!!!!!" It ended so well, yet left you so pleasantly disappointed about not seeing what was going to happen next. I guess we will just have to wait, until June 30th, the Eclipse premier...

Holiday Advice

This weekend really felt like fall. The air was crisp, the evening was cool - a perfect Sunday evening for a stroll around the neighborhood with my sister. You know the kind of evening where you breathe deep and can smell the neighbors fireplaces, invoking images of sugarplums and tinsel in your head. We chatted all along the way, until we rounded the corner to find piles of dried sycamore leaves lining the gutter. We stomped and crunched in pleasant silence. We didn't have to say a word.

Crisp evenings like these, they really get me thinking about the festivities to come in the next month and a half. I myself like to start shopping for Christmas gifts early - in fact I started in July. Sometimes it is really easy to gather gift ideas for certain people. Sometimes it is not so easy. So this is where I am asking your opinion about something.

For all of you who are married, I have a question for you. When you shop for Christmas presents for your husband, what is your method? Do you spend way more on him than other members of your family? Do you opt out of separate presents and just get a larger gift for the two of you instead? Do you get a bunch of little things, or always something big? These are questions I would really appreciate hearing your thoughts on. This year I am a little perplexed on what to do. Tell me! I need your advice!

I want to pull out all the Christmas decorations now. But I won't. Not yet. The day after Thanksgiving is my rule. I have so many craft ideas that I want to accomplish for the season. We'll see how far I get this time around...

Poms!

Ok, so I bought some of these tissue pom poms from a lovely lady on etsy. I have to tell you that when I fluffed these and put them together, I just about died. They are SO awesome. The colors I ordered were light blue and grey, for the baby shower I am throwing tomorrow at my house - so freakin' rad, people. I was going to try to make some, and I am glad I didn't. I don't think mine would have been as cool!

Paris to the Moon

A friend knew my love for "Paris to the Moon," a shop here in Southern California. On an excursion, she perused the shelves for things she thought I would love.

Little treats, little treasures... it is fun to see what a friend would pick out for you.

I love them all, and can't wait to return to peruse myself. I once had a dream that I was in a shop and everything there was something I loved. I am certain this shop would be just like my dream.

In other news, the mailman came to my door. He asked me if my mom or dad were home... uuughh. I was like, um, no?

All Hallows Eve

Halloween is a magical day. Growing up I could hardly contain my excitement. Was is the candy? The costumes? Perhaps it was the excitement of trompsing through the neighborhood, veiled and expectant. Whatever it was it was mysterious, full of wonder and good fun. Now that I am too old for trick-or-treating, I must find my haunts elsewhere. This year we spent All Hallows Eve at our friends house, Josh and Nicole. We decided we were going to prepare a Thanksgiving feast, in honor of Halloween. It was an occasion! Just before the sun set, we decided to give our patient pumpkins some faces...

I present to you our pumpkin carving quartet: The Krew. Heh.

I was the photographer so I just helped husband a little with the scooping the seeds part -

And promptly started to eat them...

Under the full moon, the sun was starting to set...

We were making excellent progress on these Jack-o-Lantern faces.

Alas! Billy has finished his, and it was a success!

Nicole's was perfect - Mr. Jack Skellington would have been pleased. Sorry Josh, I didn't get a good picture of yours.

The pumpkins there, make me shiver, spike my hair, it must be Halloween.

And a spooky site it was, all those glowing faces waiting for children, themselves veiled and expectant, just like I was when I was their age.

I hope you all had a very fun eve, we enjoyed our Thanksgiving feast, and what a feast it was.
