Easter Parade!

Parade1
What shall I wear for the Easter Parade?
A dress that’s the color of marmalade.

Dotted with buttons in Easter egg hue
You in your vest and tall top hat of blue.

Our lovely new shoes whiter than newly-poured cream
With heart-shaped and shiny, silver buckles that gleam.

We shout and hoot and sing songs of the season
All the while not forgetting the most important reason.

Carrying baskets of eggs in colors too pretty to trade
All on this day, for the Easter Parade.

Easter Week

EasterDaisy
Happy Easter Week! I get so excited about holidays, how about you? We have plans to have an Easter celebration at my mom and dad's this year, which will include glorious food, an Easter egg hunt (like the one last year) and of course reflection on the true meaning of Easter. I don't really care how old I get, I will always make Billy and I an Easter basket complete with candy and a chocolate rabbit, and of course that wonderful yet totally awful plastic grass. In case you hadn't heard, I LOVE CHOCOLATE. And it loves me. And we are a match made in heaven. It's a real shame that so much of the chocolate available around Easter tastes awful. Like waxy cardboard chocolate - I will have to make it a mission to find some decent chocolate.

So on my little to do list for Easter preparation this week, I have included:
- Daffodils from Trader Joe's
- Egg coloring kit, preferably the old fashioned kind
- Must get eggs from Costco
- Easter Lilies for my mom (her favorite)
- Ingredients for all my Easter dishes, including this chocolate cake
- More plastic eggs
- Unearth our Easter basket from the guest room closet
- Must buy CHOCOLATES!

What do you have planned?

Little Things {Wild Flowers}

WildFlowers
Sometimes it's the little things... sometimes you catch yourself noticing them. You stop and look and then realize you are aware. Maybe we aren't so oblivious sometimes. The eyes catch the color, the brain registers the sight. Like noticing the wild flowers in all their their March glory - on the side of the street while waiting for the light to change. Always a pleasure, to notice those little things...

How To Catch A Leprechaun

Clover
We seriously were going to catch him, we had made up our minds. We gathered our materials. Green plastic strawberry pint basket, 'y' shaped stick to use to prop it open, and of course, the cluster pennies we had, stashed in our rooms. At the age of 5 or 6, my brother Cole and I crept out the night before St. Patrick's Day and set our little "leprechaun trap." Oh, we slept in anticipation of the wee man we were convinced we would find trapped in the basket.

It was early when we got up - a misty morning I remember, wet with dew. We crept quiet as we could out to the driveway where our trap lay, to see if a leprechaun had crept into the propped open basket to steal the coins. We got closer... and yes!!!! The stick had fallen and the basket had dropped! There was something inside!!! A leprechaun!!! It worked!!! Cole and I gathered round the basket and carefully lifted the trap, eyes wide, fingers nervous.

What we found was astounding. It was......... a cricket. With a missing leg. Looking at each other we agreed that leprechauns must be a more sneaky kind than we assumed. At least we still had our pennies. True story. And I'm part Irish to-boot.

Happy St. Patrick's Day! I'll have a pint on that!

After The Rain {A Delight}

AfterRain3
Warm, but you still know it's brisk.
Silver, but you are the wiser, the drops are clear.
Wet, but with the sunlight it's just a matter of time.
AfterRain2
The ground loves it. The worms are in heaven. Webs sparkle, birdies coo.
AfterRain1
Leaves stand on end, they're drunk with the sun. If plants could sing, I bet they would. Those kitties lap water caught in the leaves - they are delighted. Everything seems happy, after the rain. Gentle, generous, fresh, unselfishly wipes the slate clean - that rain.
